This miniature is a lighthouse that sits on a cliff alongside the lighthouse keeper's home. The structure of both the lighthouse and the home where cut out of wood using a laser cutter. The clapboards on the lighthouse are individually cut and glued Popsicle sticks. The cliffs were carved out of Styrofoam and then covered with Spackle to give it a more rock like texture. In order to have the sand look believable I used a mixture of white and brown sugar, using real sand made the miniature look like a miniature. The final detail is a light from a model train set tucked behind some Fresnel lenses to create the lighthouse's beacon. The miniature was shot forced perspective during golden hour on the rooftop of an apartment building in Atlanta, GA.
